Why Spain sacked Julen Lopetegui a day before the 2018 World Cup

    Spain sack Julen Lopetegui

    Unbelievable. Seriously, this is unbelievable.

Many people have already placed their bets on Spain to win the 2018 World Cup.

But a day before the tournament kicks off in Russia, Spain have sacked Julen Lopetegui.

That’s happened the day after Real Madrid announced that Julen Lopetegui will succeed Zinedine Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu.

51-year-old Lopetegui has been in charge of Spain since 2016, and has spent previous spells at the helm of the likes of Rayo Vallecano and Porto.

Why Julen Lopetegui has been sacked

    Why have Spain sacked Lopetegui?

Just a few weeks ago Lopetegui agreed a deal with the Spanish FA To extend his contract to 2020.

However, after Lopetegui’s deal with Real Madrid it’s obvious that the coach has turned his back on the La Roja national team.

Luis Rubiales, the head of the Spanish FA, reportedly lost it after the Lopetegui, Real Madrid deal was announced.

And Rubiales was the man who faced the press on Wednesday to confirm that Lopetegui is now a goner.

There had been rumours that Sergio Ramos and Andres Iniesta had talked Rubiales down from sacking Lopetegui. Obviously those stories have ended up proving to be false.
