Twitter reacts to Neymar losing his rag after VAR controversy

VAR has been one of the talking points of the World Cup so far, but after the Brazil game against Costa Rica, it’s set to well and truly take centre stage.

Brazil were awarded a penalty, that Neymar felt he duly won, yet after the officials decided to use VAR and take a second look at it, the penalty decision was reversed and Brazil found their chance gone.

Neymar was furious and despite the player looking to have both been fouled and managing to make a meal of the challenge in one fell swoop, it showed once again how subjective VAR is, with even a replay often just on the opinion of the referee.

Neymar himself escaped a yellow card for his ‘dive’ but was awarded one minutes later, after losing his temper and throwing the ball away – something that clearly showed how much the pressure was getting to him and how angry he was with the officials.

It seems the Brazilian talisman is only partially fit, and it’s certainly having an impact.
