Tottenham & Chelsea suffer from the same Anthony Martial problem

    Anthony Martial & Manchester United

The news broke on Wednesday night on French radio.

After months of speculation, Anthony Martial’s agent has confirmed that his client wants to leave Manchester United.

    Philippe Lamboley told RMC Sport:

After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United. There are lots of factors, and right now it’s too early to talk about them.

Manchester United want Anthony to extend his deal and do not want him to leave but we have not reached an agreement for several months.

The news broke several weeks ago that Martial had rejected a five year contract offer from United.

Martial’s decision to leave Old Trafford has been cemented after he’s dropped down the Man United pecking order.

Alexis Sanchez’s arrival from Arsenal could have been the final straw for Martial.

    Tottenham & Chelsea

Two Premier League clubs want to sign Martial: Tottenham and Chelsea.

The Telegraph delve into the interest from the Blues and Spurs for the French forward. While the broadsheet also notes why Tottenham and Chelsea may struggle to agree a deal with the Red Devils:

Mauricio Pochettino is a keen admirer of Martial and would jump at the chance to bring the Frenchman to Tottenham. Martial is thought to be open to moving to Spurs but United are opposed to selling him to a Premier League rival, which could add to the strain between player and club.

Chelsea also have an interest in Martial and he would be prepared to go there, too, but the same obstacles would apply.

But can Tottenham or Chelsea overcome these hurdles?

Could Tottenham try to do a deal with Man United for Martial in which they offer Toby Alderweireld as part of the package?

Chelsea could offer a similar proposal as Jose Mourinho has long been rumoured to be chasing Willian.

Alternatively, Man United could look to sell Martial to Juventus, who are also rumoured to be in the race.
