T.I. is calling B.S. on his latest arrest.
The rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., was taken into police custody around 4 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, according to Atlanta’s WSB-TV Channel 2. He was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness before being released on bond.
According to the rapper, everything started when he got argument with a security guard outside his gated community. He claimed the guard was asleep on the job, and he told The Blast their conversation became “a very heated debate” when he tried to call him out for napping at his post.
He said that he offered the guard “every opportunity” to apologize for sleeping while on patrol, but instead, had the police called on him.
Tip said he believes one reason he was arrested so quickly was because the law enforcement nearby are “white cops in a very white area.”
He went on to say that while the guard “may have been hurt by my words,” there was no physical assault.
His lawyer, Steve Sadow, told People in a statement:
Tip was wrongfully arrested early this morning when he attempted to gain entrance into his gated community – where his wife ‘Tiny’ and his family reside. The guard was sound asleep when Tip arrived at the guardhouse. It took Tip some time to wake up the sleeping guard. Tip clearly identified himself and sought entry. The guard refused entry.
He said his client then contacted wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris, who confirmed to the guard that T.I. should be let in.
“The guard continued to refuse entry without justification,” he said. “Words were exchanged and apparently the guard and/or a supervisor called the police. When the police arrived, they were not interested in hearing Tip’s side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip.”
It’s been reported that the “Live Your Life” hitmaker will be pursuing legal action against his home owners association for the incident with the guard.
Luckily this story has a happy ending, as T.I. was able to celebrate his son’s 10th birthday the next day while bring surrounded by friends and family.
