Sergio Aguero suggests rifts in Argentina camp after outburst

    Rifts

Sergio Aguero has hinted at a divide in the Argentina camp, when asked about the comments made by manager Jorge Sampaoli after the game.

The former Chile and Sevilla manager claimed the players didn’t understand the project they were trying to undertake, but Aguero hit back, with Standard Sport reporting he said “He can say what he likes,”  before then retracting the comments, using the excuse he didn’t know what context they were taken in.

The 3-0 loss for Argentina was a shameful experience for some of their players, and it has to be said, key figures like Lionel Messi simply haven’t turned up so far at the 2018 World Cup.

    Wrong squad

Many people think Argentina have taken the wrong squad to the tournament, and while they have of course been very unfortunate with the Sergio Romero injury, when you consider the likes of Mauro Icardi sat at home, it doesn’t make much sense.

Despite that, Javier Mascherano has claimed that there is hope left, and that they can move on after the final game – if it goes badly, with plenty of hope still resting on them getting to the knockout stages.

Standard Sport report he said: “There is still a game left, and this is not the time to be talking about other things. After our final game — which we hope will not be the next one — we can discuss other thing but now is not the moment.

“It was difficult for us to recover from the goal and then everything went wrong. We stopped doing the things we had been going before the first goal.”
