-AS GLONIK HOTEL STILL UNDER LOCK AND KEY
The heavy security on Social Club Road, Abule Egba, Lagos, where an illegal oil bunker was discovered on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, by men of the Nigerian Navy has now been watered down as very few security men were sighted, only in the front of Glonik Hotel where the unlawful activity was uncovered, when encomium.ng visited the place on Friday, October 6, 2017.
However, the popular hospitality haven has been sealed while the impounded tankers, encomium.ng was informed, have been taken away by security operatives pending the outcome of their investigation into the alleged crime.
A neighbour who spoke to encomium.ng under the condition of anonymity said that the owner of the hotel is yet to show up for interrogation.
“The security here is relaxed now as you also can notice, but the hotel has been sealed. I am not even sure it will ever be reopened. The whereabout of the owner is yet unknown. I learned the security operatives are still searching for him because he surely has a case to answer on the issue. I learned those arrested are yet to be released also. Even, with what has happened now, all the hotels around here are now under surveillance.”
On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, an illegal bunker where petrol was being loaded was discovered at Glonik Hotel on Social Club Road, Abule Egba, Lagos. The shocking incident attracted many security operatives to the spot which caused a lot of apprehension among the residents of the area and also affected the commercial activities at the popular fun spot on the street(Social Club). But now, people can now move freely on the street without any fear of unnecessary harassment by security men.
