Raheem Sterling tipped to shine at World Cup by Kevin De Bruyne

    Tipped for World Cup greatness

Raheem Sterling has been tipped to shine at the World Cup in Russia by his Manchester City teammate and group G opponent Kevin De Bruyne.

The two players shone for Pep Guardiola’s side during the Premier League campaign as they won the title with ease.

Though, that is now firmly behind them as they line up to face each other in group G at the World Cup.

Both England and Belgium are hotly tipped to get out of the group which also includes Panama and Tunisia.

Though, it is the class between Gareth Southgate and Roberto Martinez’s sides that will no doubt be the group G showpiece.

    ‘He’s a winner’

Now, Kevin De Bruyne has been talking about the clash which will see him come up against Raheem Sterling.

The English forward is expected to be one of the spearheads of Gareth Southgate’s side and De Bruyne knows just how dangerous he can be.

“He’s a special player,” said the Belgium midfielder, speaking to the Daily Mirror.

“This season he was playing at such a high level and he’s only going to get better.

“He’s a winner — any criticism he has faced in the last few weeks I know he will just ignore.

“At Manchester City he’s so focused on success and I know he would have the same attitude with England.

“He scored many goals last season, but he scored important goals too — goals that won games in the last minute – and that takes a special type of player.

“For me, he’s a pleasure to play with.

“He makes such intelligent runs, he pulls away from defenders with ease, and you know, if you give Raheem a good ball, then there’s a big chance he’s going to do something with it.

“England have some creative midfield players – and if they can create chances for him, then they can do well.”
