    Ondo Assembly Impeaches Speaker, Deputy

SAN FRANCISCO, November 09, (THEWILL) – The Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Bamidele Oloyelogun, and the Deputy Speaker, Iroju Ogundeji, have been impeached.

Both were impeached by 18 out of 26 members of the Assembly on Friday over gross misconduct.

Meanwhile, Hon. Olamide George of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been elected as the new Speaker and Hon. Abimbola Fajolu as the new deputy speaker.

THEWILL recalls that the deputy speaker Ogundeji was impeached and subsequently reinstated early this year following the intervention of the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Addressing newsmen at the assembly complex on Friday, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Fatai Olotu, said the former leadership was removed as a result of financial impropriety, incompetence and high handedness.
