Michy Batshuayi on Chelsea return and plans moving forward

Chelsea-owned striker Michy Batshuayi has this evening briefly opened up on his future at Stamford Bridge, as well as discussing his stint with Crystal Palace.

    Selhurst Park spell

Belgian hitman Batshuayi joined Palace on a 6-month loan deal back in January.

The move came after the 25-year-old struggled to impress during another temporary stint away from Chelsea in La Liga with Valencia over the opening half of the campaign.

Batshuayi’s time at Selhurst Park, though, saw the gifted attacker rediscover both his confidence and goal-scoring touch.

Across 13 appearances with the Eagles, the former Marseille man notched an impressive 6 goals.

This haul included a brace on the final day of the season, this past Sunday versus Bournemouth.

    ‘Do not know’

As such, speaking in a press conference on the back of his side’s enthralling 5-3 win over Bournemouth, Palace boss Roy Hodgson was inevitably questioned on the prospect of Batshuayi remaining with the club next season:

‘All I know is if Michy Batshuayi is going to be available and if our club could bring him here; either on-loan or buying him, I would be very happy with that and I know Michy himself would be happy.’

Batshuayi himself, meanwhile, was this evening also drawn on his future, with the Belgian having been unable to provide any real insight into Chelsea’s plans:

‘No [I have not spoken to Chelsea about my future].’

‘I will go back to Chelsea to decide but at the moment I do not know more.’

On his spell at Selhurst Park, he continued:

‘Of course [I have enjoyed my loan].’

‘I am very happy because I had never scored here at this stadium [Selhurst Park]. It was my first goals at Crystal Palace’s stadium. Of course, I am very happy to have come here, it has been a good experience.’
