Mauricio Pochettino provides Alli & Winks updates ahead of Man City

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has this afternoon provided updates on the fitness of both Dele Alli and Harry Winks, following his side’s comfortable victory over Huddersfield Town.

    Lucas runs riot

Pochettino’s men welcomed Premier League bottom-side Huddersfield to their new ground earlier today, on the back of a timely upturn in form over the last couple of weeks.

After picking up just a solitary win across 6 fixtures between the end of February and last month, Spurs had notched back-to-back victories of late, first in a league outing versus Crystal Palace, and then in impressive fashion versus Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals this past Tuesday.

And, when all was said and done in North London this afternoon, the resurgence of the capital outfit continued.

Lucas Moura proved the star of the show, bagging a hat-trick on the back of Victor Wanyama’s 25th-minute opener.

    Alli & Winks updates

Tottenham’s attentions will now turn firmly back to their European endeavours, with the North Londoners set to travel to the Etihad on Wednesday night for the 2nd-leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with Man City.

As such, with all of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks having been absent this afternoon through respective injury concerns, Mauricio Pochettino was questioned on whether the latter pair are likely to return to the fold versus City.

Regarding Winks, the Argentine tactician confirmed that the club are ‘optimistic’:

‘It was the same as the past. He was training yesterday and in the middle of training he started to feel it. It’s a similar situation. We are optimistic.’

Dele Alli’s potential availability for Wednesday, though, appears to be very much up in the air:

‘We’ll see. He’s doing some training sessions with the protection. He needs to feel comfortable. It all depends on the time.’
