Massive Liverpool blow: Joe Gomez injury timeframe revealed

Not good news for Liverpool & Gomez

Liverpool have been handed a big injury blow after defender Joe Gomez suffered a big injury in their game with Burnley on Wednesday evening.

The Reds travelled to Turf Moor looking to maintain their unbeaten status this season and keep the pressure on Manchester City.

That unbeaten record looked to be under threat when Burnley actually took the lead through Jack Cork.

Though, it really didn’t take long for Liverpool to grab the bull by the horns.

James Milner brought the Reds level eight minutes later before goals from Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri sealed the deal.

    It wasn’t all positive, however.

Gomez set for six weeks out

That is because young defender Joe Gomez is set to miss up to six weeks of action following an injury during the game.

It has been revealed by the club on Thursday that the player has fractured his lower leg.

That means that he will be out for a decent amount of time and will miss the busy Christmas period.

Joel Matip will likely be given the nod to fill in for the youngster having made seven appearances so far.

Though, following Gomez’s brilliant form so far this season, it will be a massive blow for Liverpool.

The 21-year-old has made a stunning start to the season and is now being considered one of the best young central defenders in European football.

With that in mind, seeing that he will be out of action for six weeks will be a huge blow for Liverpool and their fans.
