Liverpool’s Sadio Mane discusses Anfield future and UCL final defeat

    Coy on future

Liverpool star Sadio Mane has opened up over his Anfield future after suggestions that he could leave the club, specifically to Real Madrid.

The Senegalese player was unable to best the Spanish giants in the Champions League final in May and soon after there were rumours over his future.

There were some explosive claims that suggested Real Madrid had agreed a deal with Liverpool for Sadio Mane before Zinedine Zidane left the club.

Though, that seemingly fell through when the club starting searching for a new manager, eventually agreeing a deal with Julen Lopetegui.

For now, it seems as though the player will not be making that move but it has thrown his future into doubt.

    Not very convincing

Now, Mane has explained that he is happy at the club but has given the usual line of  ‘you never know’.

“I am very happy in Liverpool and my contract will last for three more years,” he explained, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“As I said, I’m happy in Liverpool.

“But you never know what will happen in the future. I want to win trophies, especially the Champions League.”

Speaking about the club he could have been joining, it’s safe to say that the Champions League final loss is still fresh in his mind.

“To be honest, this defeat was not easy to put away. The whole club worked hard for this Champions League title, but Real Madrid were the better team that day.

“We lost to the best team in the world. The defeat is but ticked off. Now it is time to play with Senegal a good and successful World Cup. That’s my whole focus.”
