Lagos reconstructs Oko-Oba hintherlands
As part of efforts towards ensuring total infrastructural development in every area of the State, the Lagos State Government has embarked on the reconstruction and upgrade of Taiwo Adewunmi and Imafidon Crescent in Oko-Oba GRA Scheme 1 in Oko-Oba, Agege Local Government Area.
The reconstruction is a single carriageway awarded to Riviera Resource Limited which consists of two streets with length as 750m and 6.6m respectively while the approved Right of Way for the project is 9.6m.
Speaking at a Stakeholders’ Meeting with residents of Oko-Oba GRA Scheme 1 on Thursday, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye said the intervention was imperative as the State Government was progressive and was concerned about the welfare of the people, however, adding that the cooperation of residents was germane towards the actualization of the project.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Director, Physical Planning Department, Tpl. Bola Aliu, commended the communal efforts of residents and the civil society organization towards the development of roads within the estate, assuring residents that with their cooperation, the project would be delivered within the scheduled nine months project duration.
On his part, the Project Coordinator, Engr. Blessing Oyegua, highlighted the socio-economic benefits of the project which include: improved connectivity within Oko-Oba GRA Scheme 1, Oko-Oba, Agege along Old Abeokuta Road; enhancement of the standard of living of the residents of the Estate and expeditious addressing the current distressed and failed status of the Taiwo Adewunmi/Imafidon roads and Drastic reduction of vehicular travel time in the area.
He added that the desired cooperation from the people particularly while redirecting traffic during construction was also necessary.
Expressing gratitude, Mr. Taiwo Adewunmi, the oldest resident on Taiwo Adewunmi Crescent, thanked the State Government for the laudable project and appealed to residents to cooperate with the contractor and staff of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development to ensure prompt delivery of the project.
