James Milner explains why Liverpool deserve to win Champions League final vs Tottenham

James Milner insists that Liverpool deserve to win the Champions League following their achievements this season.

Manchester City edged the Reds to the title by just one point despite Jurgen Klopp’s side amassing a staggering 97 points.

However, Liverpool still have the chance to claim a major trophy this season as they take on Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid on June 1.

Milner: “I think everyone deserves a bit of silverware”

Milner is confident that everyone at Liverpool is deserving of silverware this season.

Klopp’s side achieved the third-highest ever Premier League points tally to finish second and are in a Champions League final set to take place next month.

Currently, the Reds have nothing to show for their accomplishments but Milner is hopeful that will change in Madrid.

    Milner told

“When you think of 30 wins out of 38, at the start of the season you’d like to think that’s good enough.

“But obviously that shows how good Man City are as well. It’s disappointing

“We have to be proud of what we’ve achieved.

“Unfortunately, it’s just short, but obviously what we did earlier in the week gives us a chance to go and redeem ourselves and get a piece of silverware.

“I think everyone deserves a bit of silverware.

“I think the team especially, these boys, how they grind out results.

“The fans have been unbelievable all year, they’ve lifted us when we’ve needed them, they’ve stuck with us when it’s been tough in games.”

Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-min Son is hopeful of being in top form in next month’s Champions League final.

The South Korean has admitted that he is looking forward to resting before working hard to prepare for Liverpool.

    Son said:

“I think everyone needs this time to rest.

“We’re trying to get as fit as possible, to make sure we give everything in this game.

“I am a really, really positive guy and it is one of the best feelings to be playing in the Champions League Final, so I just want to make sure that I am ready for every single ball and every single second.

“It is in three weeks, so everything is in our hands. I hope that I am in fire mode!”
