    I had the weirdest ticket mix up - Seun Kuti says as he apologizes to fans for missing Grammy performance (video)


    - Afro-beat singer Seun Kuti apologises for missing his performance at Grammy Awards

    - Kuti said the mix up led to him missing his rehearsals and he could not perform at the awards

    Seun Kuti, the son of legendary Afro-beat musician, Fela Kuti, had been nominated under the Best World Music category at the 61st Grammy Awards. The singer was nominated for his album titled Black Times.

    The Afro-beat singer was also slated to perform at the recently concluded 2019 Grammy Awards, which took place on Sunday, February 10.

    However, the singer had missed the performance due to some circumstances. Seun Kuti had taken to social media to apologize to fans who were expecting his performance at the Grammy Awards.

    Kuti explained that he had missed the performance due to a mix up at the airport which made him miss his flight. He further revealed that he was nit able to do his rehearsals.

    The singer also congratulated the Soweto Gospel Choir, the group that won the award he was nominated for at the Grammys.

    The Afrobeat superstar had been nominated for a category in the 2019 Grammy Awards. However, Legit.ng had reported that he lost the win to the Soweto Gospel Choir who won the award for Best World Music Award category.

    Kuti said: "First and foremost I have to say I am sorry to all the fans that tuned in to see us perform yesterday but didn’t. I had the weirdest ticket mix up in history meaning I missed my flight and the rehearsals and we couldn’t go on. Big up to Soweto Gospel choir a group that has also inspired me. @fatoumata_diawara__ for holding down our show without me. @lekanbalogun1 @mccoyclothings for making us look really nice on that red carpet @versatilebay for @chefyeide clothes. @egypt80band and our entire team we must keep banging the door till they let us in."
