    How sacked banker Emeka Onuma broke into ATM, stole N14m - Police

    - The police in Abuja has arrested one Emmanuel Emeka Onuma for breaking into an ATM and stealing N14 million

    - According to police report, Onuma worked with a new generation bank, but was dismissed for alleged fraudulent acts

    - The suspect revealed that he worked with the bank for about 11 years and was sacked without any benefit

    The police command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja on Wednesday, November 7, paraded one Emmanuel Emeka Onuma for allegedly breaking into the vault of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and stealing N14 million.

    Onuma was one of the 15 suspects paraded for various offences by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Valentine Olumese, Daily Trust reports.

    The suspect, according to the police, was an employee of the new generation bank where he was sacked in August, 2018 for fraudulent activities.

    In his confession, Onuma revealed to newsmen that he worked with the bank for about 11 years and that he was dismissed unjustly without any benefit. He however said there was no justification for what he did.

    As to how Onuma was caught and arrested, Olumese explained: “On 1st November, 2018 in furtherance with an on-going investigation, police operatives attached to Garki Division arrested one Emmanuel Emeka Onuma ‘m’ 34 years old who broke into the ATM lobby of a bank located in Garki on 19th October, 2018 at about 12 midnight and stole the sum of N14 million.”

    The ACP further stated that the suspect confessed that some of the money he stole from the bank was converted to foreign currency ($33,000) at Abuja and Kaduna for ease of movement, adding that $28,000, N1,650,120, nine pieces of Ghanaian cedis and flight tickets were recovered from Onuma.

    Meanwhile, had reported that the Jigawa police command on Tuesday, October 15, said it had arrested four suspected armed robbers in Gwaram local government area of the state.

    The commissioner of police in the state, Bala Senchi, announced this at a news conference in Dutse, and said that the suspects had been terrorizing residents of the locality. ( -> We have upgraded to serve you better.
