Good for Liverpool: Emil Forsberg hints at summer move away from Bundesliga

Longtime Liverpool target Emil Forsberg has today given Liverpool hope of landing the Swed this summer as he expressed his desire to move on from current club, RB Leipzig.

‘I’m ready for the next big step’

In an interview with Swedish outlet, Fotbollskanalen spoke at length about a number of things including Sweden’s World Cup and more importantly to Liverpool fans, his desire for a new challenge away from Leipzig.

“I’m ready for the next big step. That’s going to be very interesting.

“I am in dialogue with RB and always had a good relationship with the club.

“I have the dream of playing for the strongest clubs in the world.”

This is great news for Liverpool who have been interested in signing Forsberg for some time now.

Forsberg has played 112 games for RB Leipzig, in which he has scored 21 and assisted 37.

Forsberg is also a very versatile player who can play left wing, right wing, central attacking midfield and even as a centre-forward. And given his desire to move this summer, he could well be the perfect signing for Liverpool.

    New recruits

After losing 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final and finishing 4th in the Premier League, it was clear Liverpool needed to improve their squad this summer to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.

And credit where credit is due, Liverpool are certainly looking to do so.

They already agreed to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig earlier this year.

The Reds would then sign holding midfielder Fabinho from Monaco for a fee of around £43 million.

Liverpool were also close to signing Lyon’s Nabil Fekir. However, that deal would abruptly fall through, leaving Liverpool with the need to find a new attacking midfield target and it looks as though they could have found one in Forsberg.
