Fayose visits Ipao-Ekiti to condole with family of slain farmer

Fayose, at a meeting with the leaders of the community, however, appealed to the people of Ipao to ensure that there were no reprisal killings.
He said: “I appeal to you to ensure you live peacefully with the Fulani herdsmen in your community. We want a peaceful situation that would not allow any reprisal.
“We will investigate and get to the root cause of this sad development, particularly why this community has become a flashpoint so that we can find a lasting solution to it.”
The governor also promised to set up a five-man committee that would investigate the cause of the killings in the town.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the governor promised to compensate the affected victim’s family as well the herdsmen whose cows were killed.
He also said there would be an amendment to the Anti-Grazing Law to ensure that whoever killed a cow unlawfully would be made to face the wrath of the law.
Fayose also assured residents of the state of safety, saying the government would not relent in working with security agents to check breakdown of law and order.
