    Serbia 1 – Switzerland 2

The repercussions from Friday night’s thriller at the World Cup have been revealed on Saturday evening.

Switzerland claimed an amazing win at the World Cup against Serbia.

The Serbs took a fourth minute lead through Newcastle forward Alexsandr Mitrovic. But the Swiss hit back with two stunners in the second half.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka levelled with an amazing shot from distance.

In the final seconds of the match, Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri raced away to score the winner.

But on Saturday night the news has been confirmed by BLICK journalist Andreas Böni: FIFA have opened an investigation into the actions of Xhaka and Shaqiri.

After the two players scored, they both produced the same goal celebration.

Both the goal scorers are ethnic Albanians and of Kosovo heritage, and celebrated with a gesture which appeared to imitate the eagle displayed on the Albania flag.

Now FIFA are looking into the incident.

Will the Swiss stars be banned from competing at the World Cup? Will they be fined? Or will the matter disappear?

The Swiss World Cup squad will now have to wait and see what happens.

The Swiss face Costa Rica in their final group game.
