“Castle and Castle” is the new legal drama coming to EbonyLife ON

On July 1, EbonyLife ON will premiere the new legal drama Castle and Castle on its platform. I’m not excited enough to gush over it because the teaser, released last week, is pretty much skeletal: a bunch of lawyers marching in slow motion in a hallway.

But I like that the show stars Dakore Egbuson and Richard Mofe Damijo, who play Remi and Tega, married couple and partners in their legal firm. It’s an interesting dynamic, and reminds me of the Shonda Rhimes’ ABC series For The People, where a court case puts a strain on the relationship between Allison Adams (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Seth Oliver (Ben Rappaport), to the point that it pits them against each other.

Subsequently, Ben breaks up with Allison or the other way round or whatever. As a template on bigger stakes, and stories that move quickly, Castle and Castle can look at another legal drama from the Shondaland factory: How To Get Away With Murder. Or one of my all-time favourites Ally McBeal.

As an offshoot from the EbonyLife brand, EbonyLife ON is a subscription video on demand service allowing you to watch all your favourite African movies, series, and documentaries anytime on your device.
