Bad for Liverpool: Lyon chief confirms Real Madrid interest in Nabil Fekir

    Big blow

Liverpool could have been dealt a blow in their hopes of signing Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir after the World Cup after Real Madrid’s interest was confirmed.

The Merseysiders were looking certain to sign the player and he had even had his introductory interview with the club.

The move fell through at the last second and it looked as though Liverpool would not be getting their man.

Now, there are suggestions that the club could revive interest after the World Cup finishes and the player returns from international duty.

They may not be able to wait that long though, because Real Madrid have joined the race for his signature according to Jean-Michel Aulas.

    Bernabeu move?

The Lyon president was talking about a potential move this week and suggested that Real Madrid were now interested in the player.

“Yeah, listen, at that stage, it was foreseen he would go to Liverpool, I had given it the green light to go ahead,” Aulas explained to RT France, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“But it just took too long, things were just too drawn out.

“He is an exceptional player, he keeps the ball in little space and has an incredible talent.

“The fact that things didn’t conclude with Liverpool and it didn’t happen in that timeframe has peaked the interest of a lot of other clubs – Real Madrid, but not just Real Madrid and their new trainer.

“There is a lot of interest from other camps, so everything is possible.”
