Asaba residents send SOS to Okowa over deplorable road

Residents of Lawrence Ekwuabu Street, behind the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in the Goverent Reserved Areas (GRA) of Asaba, Delta state capital have sent a Save-Our-Soul message to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to  fix  their road.

The residents expressed grave fears that if something is not urgently done now, floods could flush everybody and their properties away.

A resident of the area, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council Patrick Ochei, said the condition of the road posed a great danger to them.

Our correspondent, who visited the area observed the road was cut by a  deep gully erosion caused by the constant floods making it difficult for both human and vehicular movements.

Some of the residents told this reporter that they have engaged selfhelp to keep the road usable for a long time, until the rains came and it became unmanageable.

They said the situation was made worse as rain water from adjoining streets is now channeled through the road.
