    Arsenal’s double deal

Unai Emery’s summer recruitment plans could be advanced significantly in the next few days.

Arsenal will look a whole lot different next season.

Emery has replaced Arsene Wenger in the dugout, while the new boss seems to be conducting an overhaul of much of the playing staff.

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Swiss international Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus.

Lichtsteiner have moved to the English capital on a free transfer after seven seasons in Turin.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also on course to join the Gunners this summer.

Sokratis, 29, is looking to leave Borussia Dortmund to gain for game time in north London.

And now two more players could be on their way to Arsenal: Sampdoria’s defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira and Bayer Leverkusen goalie Bernd Leno.

    Arsenal & Lucas Torreira

Rumours linking Lucas Torreira with a switch from Sampdoria to Arsenal have been swirling about for a few days.

On Tuesday night those rumours got much louder.

Torreira, a 22-year-old defensive midfielder, emerged as one of the breakout stars in Serie A this past season.

An international with Uruguay, Torreira is known for his tenacity, passing range and his eye for goal.

Torreira started 36 of Samp’s 38 league outings, racking up 4 goals and an assist in the process.

According to ANSA and then echoed by others, after days of negotiations between the clubs, Lucas Torreira will be sold to Arsenal for €30m.

ANSA further state Torreira will agree a five year deal, earning 3 million euros a season in wages.

Torreira’s transfer could be confirmed before the start of the World Cup on Thursday.

    Bernd Leno’s Gunners move

Arsenal also seem set to have a new goalie next season.

Bernd Leno, the Bayer Leverkusen keeper, is also set to sign for Arsenal imminently.

Leno moved to Leverkusen in 2013 from fellow German side Stuttgart for a fee in the region of £6.75 million.

Since signing for Leverkusen Leno has become a top quality shot-stopper. In 304 games for Leverkusen, he has kept a very impressive 100 clean sheets.
