2 in, 2 out? Juventus injury updates ahead of Ajax

Updates on the fitness of a quartet of Juventus stars have been provided this afternoon, ahead of the Serie A giants’ meeting with Ajax in 2 days’ time.

    Ajax 1-1 Juventus

The Bianconeri are set to welcome Eredivisie table-toppers Ajax to Turin on Tuesday night, for the second-leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs.

The tie’s first-leg, which took place this past Wednesday, saw Cristiano Ronaldo’s finish on the stroke of half-time eventually wiped out on the other side of the interval, courtesy of a superb individual effort from David Neres.

As such, Juve hold the slender advantage of an away goal ahead of Tuesday’s return fixture.

    Chiellini in, Costa out?

And, as confirmed by Sky Italia this afternoon, Max Allegri’s men could also be boosted by the return of a pair of key faces to the club’s squad to take on Ajax.

Emre Can and Giorgio Chiellini, both of whom missed the Old Lady’s visit to Amsterdam last week with respective injury problems, are said to be ‘progressing well’.

As such, the duo are expected to be at least fit enough for a place on the bench in 2 days’ time.

The news on Douglas Costa and Mattia Perin, though, is less positive.

Brazilian wide-man Costa, who made an explosive return to action off the bench versus Ajax earlier this week, picked up a calf problem during his half-hour cameo, with the 28-year-old not expected to recover in time for Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Perin, meanwhile, picked up a shoulder injury in training this morning.

As such, the Italian international, who would have been unlikely to feature anyway, looks set to miss out.
