Fintech startup Zoona has had an “incredible” year, the company’s marketing head Lelemba Phiri said this week. It follows two recent international accolades the startup received.
The company won Africa Best Employer at the 2017 Employer Branding Awards, held earlier this week on Tuesday (5 December) in Le Meridien, Mauritius.
In addition, the company’s marketing head was also recognised as one of the top five most influential global marketing leaders at the World Marketing Congress, which took place between 24 and 25 November in Mumbai, India.
In a press release Phiri said the company appreciated the accolades as they “fuel our fire to keep striving”.
“Through the dedication and commitment of over 1000 active entrepreneurs, we have created over 3500 jobs and serviced more than 2000 communities,” she said.
Last month, Zoona also scooped the Agent Chain Development Award at the UNCDF Digital Chikwama Awards in Zambia
Commenting in the same statement, Zoona’s head of people Erica Hannath said the awards were a result of the company’s investment into its culture, which she said the startup regarded as an asset.
She added the awards will help Zoona attract top talent that would assist the company to ” help communities thrive”.
The awards come on the back of Zoona’s CEO Mike Quinn having received Accion’s Edward W Claugus Award for Social Entrepreneurship.
Last month, the company was also recognised for its work in improving financial inclusion in Zambia at the UN Capital Development Fund‘s Digital Chikwama Awards where it won the Agent Chain Development Award.
