Pablo Zabaleta joined on a free transfer from Man City, Joe Hart has also moved from Man City on loan, while Stoke’s Austrian star Marko Arnautovic is due to move to the Irons in a club record transfer deal.

Javier Hernandez has also signed on after leaving Bayer Leverkusen.

    Another signing is imminent

Over the past few days, reports linking West Ham with Sporting CP’s William Carvalho have been getting louder.

A Portuguese international, Carvalho is a solid centre-mid who would undoubtedly help the Hammers in the EPL.

On Sunday, the front page of Record offers an update in the saga.

It’s reported that West Ham are closing in on a deal for Carvalho, and the two clubs are very close to agreeing a €35m fee for the 25-year-old midfielder.

William Carvalho is reportedly due to undergo a medical in East London on Monday or Tuesday next week.

Carvalho was absent from Sporting’s 1-0 win over Setúbal on Friday night.
