Tottenham submit bid for Celta Vigo midfielder Pape Cheikh

Spurs starting to make summer moves

The big team news for Tottenham’s first game of the Premier League season is that Kyle Walker Peters makes his debut and Moussa Sissoko is in midfield.

There are of course no new signings for Tottenham fans to watch as Spurs are the only side in the Premier League not to have made one yet.

However, the moves are starting to come thick and fast for Tottenham.

Ross Barkley remains in the pipeline whilst Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez is also reportedly close to moving to north London.

Spurs make offer for Pape Cheikh

In recent days, Tottenham have also been linked with Celta Vigo midfielder Pape Cheikh, one of the hottest prospects in La Liga.

On Sunday, Madrid-based newspaper AS confirm that Tottenham have bid eight million euros for the Celta Vigo starlet.

Celta Vigo are holding out for 10 million euros, according to AS.

Pape Cheikh has a 30m euro release clause

They add that it seems very unlikely that the La Liga side nor the Senegalese midfielder will be able to reject the Tottenham offer.

Pape Cheikh has a 30 million euro release clause at Celta Vigo having come through the ranks at the Spanish side.

Celta Vigo consider 10 million euros a good deal for Cheikh and are open to selling.

Does this affect the Ross Barkley deal?

They are also conscious of the fact that Pape Cheikh wants to join Spurs due to both an economic and sporting point of view.

Cheikh would play for one of the top teams in the Premier League and also multiply his salary by six.

Considering Cheikh is a midfielder, it will be intriguing to see if Spurs continue to make a move for Ross Barkley if they seal this signing.
