Thomas Lemar & Arsenal: It’s finally over

    Thomas Lemar & Arsenal

Throughout the summer, Arsenal fans have been consuming reports linking them with a move for Thomas Lemar.

In recent weeks, French daily L’Equipe spelled out the player’s intent, as readers were clearly told that Lemar wants to move to Arsenal.

If reports are to believed, Arsenal recently submitted a third offer for Lemar. That bid was for 50 million euros.

The Gunners previously offered 40 million euros and then 45 million euros for Lemar with their two initial offers.

    Last season’s stats

Lemar was a key part of the Monaco side that won Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-finals last season.

The 21-year-old French international scored 9 goals and added 10 assists in Ligue 1 last season.

The winger also played in last weekend’s Ligue 1 opener against Toulouse, Monaco won the match 3-2.

On Sunday, Monaco travel to Dijon in week two of the season.

    ‘It’s finally over’

According to the Mail on Sunday, Arsenal fans can now forget about signing Lemar this summer.

The paper tell their readers the following:

Arsenal have all but given up on signing Thomas Lemar from Monaco, accepting that the club are unlikely to sell him until next summer.

Monaco’s stance is irrespective of whether Kylian Mbappe, being chased by Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, leaves this month.

Arsenal fans may not be too fussed about Lemar if Alexis Sanchez stays at the Gunners for the season.

But will he? On Saturday night, it was confirmed by French sources that the Chilean is in France, while his agent has lined up talks with PSG.

Arsenal, meanwhile, got off to a winning start in the Premier League.

They beat Leicester in a seven-goal thriller, edging the Foxes 4-3 on Friday night.
