The most expensive defence of all time revealed, not what you would expect

Following Kyle Walker’s imminent move to Manchester City, there has been much talk over the most expensive defence in world football.

With Walker included, the names in the most expensive defence certainly do not jump out at you, or impress you for that matter.

Coming in at the left-back spot in Manchester United flop Luke Shaw, who has failed to impress at Old Trafford.

Having signed for £27m, you would have expected so much more.

Then you have the infamous John Stones deal at the centre-back spot, who cost around £50m from Everton to Manchester City.

Having taken heavy criticism at times last season, there is still some convincing to be done.

David Luiz comes in at the next spot as the only impressive player from last season.

Having rejoined Chelsea, Luiz thrived in a back three deployed by Antonio Conte but still has had bumps in his career.

Finally, following his imminent move, Walker will certainly smash the record for the most expensive defender.

Impressive as Luiz last season, City will certainly know what they are getting but is he a £50+ million defender?

    Spurs line up replacement

Tottenham are already looking to replace Walker with a new signing.

The Londoners are not wasting any time in getting their business done.
