Sir Alex Ferguson to return to manage Manchester United….

    Carrick Testimonial

With such a huge squad at Old Trafford this season, Michael Carrick is finding it tough to keep a starting place under Jose Mourinho, but the softly-spoken Geordie is still going strong after over a decade at the club.

And he’s showing that even at 35 and in the twilight of his career, he’s very much still got it.

United have a very high win percentage when Carrick is on the pitch, and his presence provides assurance and stability in possession.

But with his current contract running out at the end of the season and with so many young players in the squad, it’s clear that Carrick’s Old Trafford career is entering its final stretch.

And having completed 10 seasons at the club, he’ll now be rewarded with a testimonial this coming June, after which it looks like he may retire – unless he’s offered a new deal.

    Fergie to manage

And the Testimonial will have a special, nostalgic feel to it – as Sir Alex Ferguson is going to return to the dugout.

Fergie of course signed Carrick from Spurs, and the midfielder spent most of his Old Trafford career being managed by the fiery Scot.
