Rico Rodriguez’s father, Roy Rodriguez, passed away suddenly at the age of 52 on Mar. 12, 2017.
Rico remembered his father in an Instagram post on Sunday, Mar. 19, describing the time since his death as the “toughest week” of his life.
“My Dad was the most kind hearted, loving, hard working, determined, and funny man I have ever known. He was like a super hero, he had the ability to get the best out of you day in and day out,” Rico wrote. “I’m gonna miss your hugs. I’m gonna miss your advice. I’m gonna miss your smile, and I’m gonna miss your laugh. I know you’re looking down at us right now giving us the green light to move forward. I miss you Daddy.”
Rico’s older sister Raini, who is a Disney Channel actress, also shared a heartfelt post about her late father on Instagram. She wrote, “My daddy was the greatest man in my life. His work ethic and sense of humor were two of his greatest characteristics, both of which he shared with me. He has taught me so many life lessons and inspired me constantly to follow my dreams. I know you will continue to shine down on me, momma, Rico, Ray, Poppi and baby and we will be ok!”

Roy is survived by his wife Diane, their four children, Rico, Raini, Roy Jr. and Ray, and 10 grandchildren. He was laid to rest on Saturday in Bryan, Texas, his hometown.
“Humorous and fearless, he loved to get others to laugh along with him as he shared stories with those who meant the most to him, and while he was wise, he was also willing to risks to learn as much as he could, he would often be heard saying ‘A man needs to know a little bit of everything’,” reads his obituary.”He finally got his first tattoo at age 47—portraits on his arm, of all his children, his wife, grandchildren and his parents.”
