Man City player named the favourite to be sent off retrospectively for diving

    Sterling is the one

Raheem Sterling has been named as the player bookies think will be the first one to be sent off for diving next season, as the new rules kick in and try to improve the game.

The FA have announced they will punish players for diving or faking injury after the fact in the Premier League, even if the officials during the game fail to pick up on it.

Sterling has been known to dive in the box and try and win his side penalties – and after his lip incident, Alexis also makes the top of the shortlist.

First player to be retrospectively banned for diving or feigning injury:

10/1 Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Alexis Sanchez

12/1 Anthony Knockaert, Dele Alli, Gabriel Jesus, Marcus Rashford, Wilfried Zaha

14/1 Ashley Young, Jamie Vardy, Rihad Mahrez, Robert Snodgrass

    Bans

The players who are caught – most likely on the TV cameras – and then charged will face bans, and that’s hoped it would be a deterrent for the players who are considering cheating.

It comes as there have been increased calls from the media and the fans to crack down on play acting and cheating that can affect the outcome of a game, and now while at the time, there may be a penalty or free kick that helps the team, their player may then be banned – obviously costing them later on.
