Liverpool drop major hint over Philippe Coutinho’s Barcelona move

Will Philippe Coutinho join Barcelona from Liverpool?

Philippe Coutinho’s potential move from Liverpool to Barcelona is now very firmly becoming a transfer saga.

Even before Neymar’s world record transfer move from Barcelona to PSG, Coutinho was being linked to Barcelona.

At first, Coutinho was supposed to be the player that would keep Neymar at the Camp Nou.

Instead, Neymar left for the Parc des Princes and now Coutinho is seen as a replacement. Or at least one half of the way to spend the cash, the other half being Ousmane Dembele.

Can Liverpool hold onto Philippe Coutinho from this point?

For pretty much the whole saga so far, Liverpool have dug their heels in and refused to allow Coutinho to join Barcelona.

There have been at least two offers from Barcelona, worth around 100 million euros.

On Friday, events appeared to take a turn for the worse for Liverpool, when Coutinho handed in a transfer request.

Liverpool initially denied there had even been a transfer request, then they admitted it had been rejected within minutes.

Liverpool drop major hint over Philippe Coutinho’s future

Coutinho missed Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Watford on Saturday, that left even more question marks about Jurgen Klopp’s summer transfer policy.

Liverpool fans will be hoping Coutinho’s “back injury” clears up for the Champions League match against Hoffenheim on Tuesday.

This seems unlikely and on Sunday Liverpool appeared to drop a huge hint that they are preparing for Coutinho’s departure.

The Liverpool store at Anfield removed a huge cardboard cutout of Coutinho on Sunday.

This was recorded by a Liverpool fan, who seemed rather negative on whether the Merseyside giants can hold onto their Brazilian star.
