Kaka sent off in ridiculous VAR manner for Orlando City v New York Red Bulls (video)

Kaka: Not that sort of player!

With his angelic looks and wholesome personality, Kaka might well be the ultimate “not that sort of player” to pick up red cards.

Nevertheless, the Brazilian superstar did used to pick up the odd booking in Europe.

In the MLS, incredibly, Kaka has now been sent off twice, and the latest red card has the added twist of another VAR (Video Assistant Referee) mess added to it.

New York Red Bulls 3 – Orlando City 1

Kaka and his Orlando City team mates are not in the greatest of form right now but took the lead at New York Red Bulls.

The former AC Milan and Real Madrid star was credited with the assist for Carlos Rivas to bag the opener.

New York hit back to win thanks to goals from Leo Pereira (OG), Bradley Wright Phillips and Sean Davis.

    Kaka’s 97th minute sending off

With the game done and the scoreline confirmed, Kaka was brought to the headlines by some seriously poor use of VAR by the MLS officials.

In the 93rd minute a melee began on the touchline over some minimal argy bargy.

During the melee, Kaka playfully grabs the face of New York Red Bulls substitute Aurelien Collin.

Kaka & Aurelien Colin are good friends

Collin spent two years at Orlando City and the pair are good friends.

There then ensues plenty of Video Assistant Referee time as the linesman and referee decide to send Kaka off.

Referee Jorge Gonzalez clearly indicates that sent off Kaka for grabbing Collin’s face.

Now, by the letter of the law this was the correct decision to send Kaka off, but surely common sense should have been implemented here?!

Kaka and Collin protested. No one could quite believe it. What a pathetic decision!
