James Rodriguez reveals advice of Real teammate regarding Bayern move

New Bayern Munich signing James Rodriguez has this afternoon revealed that one of his Real Madrid teammates helped him with his decision to join the Bundesliga giants this summer.

    Done deal

Following weeks of speculation surrounding the future of the Colombian international, with persistent links to the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, Rodriguez eventually opted to join Bayern Munich in a surprise deal on Tuesday.

The 2014 World Cup star has since spoken of his delight at the move, with Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti having managed to get the best out of the 26-year-old during the pair’s time spent together at the Bernabeu.

    Helping hand

However, the gifted midfielder was not always so intent on joining the perennial German top-flight champions, revealing today that the advice of one of his former Blancos teammates was significant in helping him make the decision to head to the Allianz Arena.

‘I asked Toni Kroos four months ago about Bayern and the City of Munich and he told me that Munich is an amazing City and Bayern are a great club.’

Kroos joined the Bavarians’ youth setup in 2006 and remained with the club for 8 years, cementing himself as one of the world’s finest midfielders, before a big-money move to Madrid in 2014.
