Frank Lampard offers insight into Man United boss Jose Mourinho’s mind

Frank Lampard has offered an interesting look into Jose Mourinho as a manager, and claimed that while he benefited from working under the now Man United boss during their time together at Chelsea, some players find his expectations too much to deal with.

Lampard claimed that Mourinho wants the best from his players, and wants to create a mentality that thrives off conflict and brings the side together.

It comes after Mourinho criticised his team following their 3-0 win over Basel in the Champions League, and said that his side were too complacent and played like they were on a playstation.

Lampard was speaking on BT Sport, and said: “He’s demanding, he’s a demanding manager.

“He likes conflict, he kind of promotes the conflict, not in the group but outside and we’ve seen that, it’s very much a family thing.

He changed my career personally when he came in, he gave me a self confidence.

“He’s very confident in himself, he portrays that to his players, I really enjoyed it.

“But some players can find him too demanding.”

    Top manager

There’s no denying Mourinho is a top manager, and works with top players – and all eyes are on his United side this season in terms of what they do in the Premier League and also in the Champions League.

After winning two trophies this season, Mourinho will want to go one better this time out and win the Premier League – and his side have got off to a brilliant start – with their first dropped points coming last weekend.

Now, with Paul Pogba facing a spell on the sidelines, Mourinho will have to rely on the squad he has talked up so much, with players like Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini in line for starts and chances.

It also puts more pressure on the front line, including Romelu Lukaku who has been sensational since arriving from Everton in the summer.
