Eden Hazard key to Chelsea’s Champions League hopes according to pundit

    Key man

Eden Hazard needs to be on top form if Chelsea want to win the Champions League according to Glen Hoddle, who thinks that Chelsea may struggle fighting on two fronts without him.

The talent of Hazard, and ability he has to win games and get goals for the Blues could well be key in thr toughest, tightest games.

He said to BT Sport: “The thing about Eden Hazard is when he’s on form he’s one of the best players in the world.

If he’s having an indifferent game, they’re the players that make the difference.

“We see his talent here, he’s two footed, left and right foot, he creates but look at that for a finish, that is world class.

“If Chelsea are going to hang onto him long term and go for Champions League and for the Premier League at the same time, they must keep Eden Hazard.

“There’s no doubt about it, he’s a top, top quality player. It’s good to see him back.”

    Back from injury

Hazard is of course returning from injury and has played a part in the last two games for the club, along with managing to play for Belgium during the international break.

Having Hazard back is a huge boost for the Blues, and it will obviously ease the goal pressure on Alvaro Morata, who has been handed the task of scoring the goals Diego Costa would have done had he remained at the club.

Hazard also wants to be seen as one of the best in the world, and needs to make a real mark on the Champions League in order to be placed in the bracket of Ronaldo, Messi and even the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, all of whom look far closer to landing the Ballon d’Or than he does.
