Cristiano Ronaldo furious at Man United boss Jose Mourinho’s latest comments

Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his love for Nemanja Matic since the player arrived at Manchester United but according to Don Balon, it’s another one of his former players who’s taken offence at this.

Cristiano Ronaldo was reportedly upset at hearing Mourinho call Matic the best he’s worked with, and has not taken the comments well, with the Spanish publication going as far as suggesting Mourinho made the comments on purpose, to upset Ronaldo.

Mourinho of course gushed about Matic, and said: “Matic, I cannot say that I had better guys than him in my career.

“And he has with me something which marks forever, which was a match where he was on the bench, I play him minute 45 and I took him off minute 70, 75.

“He was really sad. I was also sad because it’s not something nice and it’s something that I did only twice in my career.

“But the next day he comes to me and he says, ‘I’m not happy, but it’s my fault. I’m not happy with what you did to me, but it’s my fault, because the way I was playing I can understand the change. So let’s keep going’.

“We didn’t keep going for a long time because a few weeks later I was sacked!

“But again he was one of ‘my guys’, was one of the guys that we kept close during these years even not working together. So I know that the big man is there, even with more maturity.”

United have far bigger issues than worrying what Ronaldo might be sulking about, with Paul Pogba going off in their Champions League win over Basel early on, and the player leaving Old Trafford on crutches.

Pogba has been brilliant for the club this season, but could now face weeks out on the sidelines.

While United do have the squad to cope – something Mourinho has said himself, they will miss Pogba, yet it’s a chance for the likes of Marouane Fellaini, who was brilliant last night, and also the likes of Ander Herrera to step up.

    Ronaldo missing

Real Madrid have been dealing with their own loss recently, with Ronaldo suspended in the domestic games, but will at least be able to welcome him back tonight in their Champions League clash, and it’s not a minute too soon considering how much they’ve struggled in his absence.
