Bayern Munich’s crazy Cristiano Ronaldo statement

Do Bayern Munich have a grudge against Cristiano Ronaldo?

Considering Cristiano Ronaldo scored five goals against Bayern Munich in two Champions League games this season, it is a surprise that the German champions aren’t keen on the Portuguese superstar.

Over the past few days, ever since Ronaldo has made it clear he wants to leave Real Madrid, Bayern Munich have been one of the teams linked.

This has caused great furore in Germany, with Bild and many other publications getting excited that Ronaldo was on his way to Munich.

Bayern’s record transfer fee is 40m euros

Considering Corentin Tolisso broke the Bayern transfer record with a 40 million euro signing from Lyon, this was always unlikely.

Especially as, despite all the reporting of late, it still seems the most likely scenario is that Ronaldo will stay at Real Madrid.

On Monday, Bayern Munich released a quite extraordinary statement on the fact they will not be signing Ronaldo.

    “Hoax of the day”

Bayern are absolutely brutal in their assessment of the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer rumours.

Not only do they distance themselves from signing the Portuguese superstar, they also illustrate the statement with an orange duck.

Bayern Munich statement on Cristiano Ronaldo

Rumours about FC Bayern swirl around the world daily via printed press, social media and whispers. Digital technology means news is spread with great speed, but sometimes stories come out that are simply not true.

Conveniently in German, the word “Ente” means both a duck and a hoax, which is why at fcbayern.com we will be bringing you the “Hoax of the day” presented by Franz the Bayern duck.

The Italian sport paper Gazetto dello Sport has been reporting in recent days that FC Bayern are interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. Following this publication, the rumour, as well as others, was picked up and spread further by numerous German media sources.

Bayern’s Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had this to say: “We’re used to being the subject of intense transfer speculation during transfer windows. Normally we don’t comment on rumours, but in this case, we would like to make our position on Cristiano Ronaldo absolutely clear: This rumour is completely unfounded and must be consigned to the realms of fantasy.”
