Bayern dismiss 'completely unfounded' Ronaldo rumours

Blatter defends Ronaldo amid tax scrutiny

Ronaldo reportedly wants to leave Real Madrid amid accusations that he had defrauded the Spanish tax authorities out of €14.7 million.

Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Bayern have been credited with an interest in the press, but the Bundesliga champions made clear they have no desire to make an offer, calling the rumours the "hoax of the day" on their website.

"Rumours about FC Bayern swirl around the world daily via printed press, social media and whispers," a statement on their website read.

"Digital technology means news is spread with great speed, but sometimes stories come out that are simply not true."

Executive committee chairman Rummenigge, meanwhile, said the rumours should be forgotten as mere "fantasy".

"We’re used to being the subject of intense transfer speculation during transfer windows," he said.

"Normally we don’t comment on rumours, but in this case, we would like to make our position on Cristiano Ronaldo absolutely clear: This rumour is completely unfounded and must be consigned to the realms of fantasy.”

    'Donnarumma has cost Milan €100m'

Ronaldo's future became uncertain following the allegations last week.

Madrid prosecutors have filed a complaint to a court, accusing the 32-year-old of a "voluntary" and "conscious" breach of his tax obligations.
